Roxby Downs is a small township located in Northern / Central South Australia. It is a remote and rural community which comprises of mining workers and their families.
The climate is hot and dry all year round with minimal shade and water is a valuable resource, the community and client were interested in a BMX facility to suit the climate. With funding and support sourced through grants, in-kind contractors and council members direction and purpose.
TTC were engaged as the lead consultant to conduct community engagement, design, planning and construction services. After a positive and thorough engagement process with council, TTC and stakeholders.
We utilised this information to design a youth precinct and asphalt pump track to cater for beginner and intermediate riders. We integrated a jump section, roll-able doubles, berms and a wall-ride feature for increased user enjoyment and skill development.
Recreation nodes, BBQ’s and amenities were integrated into the design of the facility to encourage family activities and to attract a broader demographic to the space. Construction budgets have been adopted by council with construction of the space expected to commence in 2022.
