Diamond Creek is a suburb located 23 km northeast of Melbourne’s CBD, where urban life blends with natural surroundings. The Diamond Creek Trail provides a cyclist and pedestrian-friendly pathway that showcases the lush parklands, creek valley, and nature-filled neighbourhoods.
The Diamond Creek BMX Trails, established in the early 1990s, have been a vital part of local BMX culture for over 30 years. When authorities acted on their removal, the community strongly opposed it. In response, the Council engaged us as lead consultants to design a new facility for the local BMX and cycling enthusiasts.
Our approach involved thorough community consultation to ensure that the design reflected the exact needs and desires of the local community.
The facility features a variety of elements to accommodate users of all skill levels. This includes beginner and intermediate jump sections, skill development transfer lines, and advanced jump sections. A combined-use wall ride and a shipping container for equipment storage are essential for maintaining the area.
To honour the identity of Diamond Creek, we also incorporated a diamond-shaped asphalt pump track into the design.
