PARADISE RECREATION PLAZA /

Paradise is a northeastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located near the Torrens River, providing access to popular walking and cycling paths that lead to the CBD.

Paradise Recreation Plaza represents an initiative to enhance an existing space, focusing on improving flow, connectivity, and activation. The project was commissioned by Campbelltown City Council, with TTC collaborating on the bike park component alongside skate park consultants and landscape architects to develop a master plan valued at approximately $3.9 million.

As part of the project team, we were responsible for community consultation, design, and planning services. Community feedback highlighted a desire for features such as interesting dirt jump sections, a return line, and an asphalt pump track.

Encouragingly, 90% of the community supported the final design. The layout primarily accommodates beginner and intermediate users, with skill development lines incorporated throughout to enhance user experience. A key aspect of the design was the seamless integration between the pump track and the skate park, creating a truly unique feature for the area.

This project has received several prestigious awards, including:
– 2024 AILA SA Landscape Architecture Award for Parks and Open Space
– 2024 AILA SA Shadesmart Award
– 2024 Parks and Leisure Australia (SA/NT) Regional Awards of Excellence Winner of ‘Park of the Year’
– 2022 Parks and Leisure Australia (SA/NT) Regional Awards of Excellence ‘Strategic and Master Planning Award’ for the Paradise Recreation Plaza Master Plan.
