Denman Prospect is a suburb currently under development in the Molonglo Valley area of Australia’s Capital City – Canberra, ACT, Australia. The development will have a series of amenities and services available to it. These include Denman Village shops, community centre, schools, parks and playgrounds. In addition, recreational activities will be available with local walking trails, nature areas and skate park. The popular Stromlo Forest Park is also in close proximity with several attractions for riding enthusiasts available.
The Stromlo Reach Pump Track & Snake Run design has been incorporated into a steep hill on the northern side of the site (snake run area). The pump track is at the lower side of the hill and the facility is designed and intended for beginner and intermediate users. Both the pump track and snake run will be surfaced with asphalt for longevity. The snake run starts from a platform on the hill and winds it way down to the pump track with the inclusion of interesting features throughout this area.
We designed this pump track with inspiration from the aboriginal artist Wally Bell. You will see water holes connected by running water artwork across the mogul and dimple features within the pump track. Unlike traditional pump tracks, this pump track has been designed to have transitions all over it, making for a unique ‘chose your own adventure’ style pump track. You can ride everything and the user can choose their own line at leisure.
The snake run offers the opportunity for users to have a run around the pump track and carry on via a return pathway back to the top of the hill, ready for another run.
